About the event

Join us for a group Sunset Hike starting from 5409 Los Feliz Blvd (MEET AT THE BEAR STATUE!). -- This is a moderate 2.6 mile loop which will take us up to Griffith Observatory and back.

There are areas of steepness. Everyone attending this meetup is responsible for having the proper fitness and equipment including hiking boots/footwear, poles etc. in order to complete this hike. Please wear shoes with good grip/proper hiking footwear.

This is not meant to be a "guided" hike -- all attendees bear full responsibility for having adequate skills, fitness and equipment to complete this moderately challenging hike.

About the Hike:

Explore this 2.6-mile loop trail near Universal City, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 23 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, running, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

Ferndell (aka Fern Dell) is a woodsy glen at the lower end of Western Canyon in Griffith Park. Your destination is the historic Griffith Observatory.

The most accessible portion of the trail is the paved portion on the Fern Dell Nature Trail at the south end of the trail from about 0.0-0.3 and 2.3-2.6 miles when going counterclockwise.
